What I've Actually Coated (Proof)

"Only expensive cars get ceramic coatings" (Here's what I've actually coated)

I need to kill a myth.

People think ceramic coatings are only for $100k+ cars.

BMWs. Audis. Teslas.

Wrong.

Here's what I've actually coated in the last few years:

  • VW Bug (last month)

  • Honda Accord (last month)

  • Lexus IS 350 (flown to florida to install)

  • Porsche Cayenne (ops, that is expensive)

  • Audi RS6 (okay, that one's expensive)

  • Toyota Tacomas (multiple, one quite recently)

  • Chevy Silverados (2 in the last 4 months)

  • '57 Bel-Air

  • Audi Q4

  • Lincoln Navigator

I got flown to Florida earlier this year to coat a lexus.

But most of my coating clients?

They're not driving six-figure cars.

They're driving Hondas. Toyotas. Trucks they bought used. SUVs they haul kids in.

The real pattern

The people who get coatings aren't the ones with the most expensive cars.

They're the ones who plan to keep them.

That's it.

That's the filter.

A $30k Tacoma you're keeping for 10 years? Absolutely worth coating.

A $70k lease you're turning in after 36 months? maybe not.

It's not about the price tag. It's about the timeline.

If you're keeping it, protect it.

If you're not, don't.

Here's what actually happens after a coating

Your car looks cleaner all the time.

Even when it's been two weeks since I washed it.

I know that sounds impossible. But it's the hydrophobic properties doing their job.

Dirt doesn't stick as hard. Water sheets off. Bugs wipe away instead of baking on.

You can go two weeks without a wash and your car still looks decent.

Try that with an uncoated car parked outside in Roseville. It'll look like you drove through a dust storm and lost.

The coating makes everything easier.

Washing takes less time. Drying takes less effort. Maintenance becomes something you can keep up with instead of dreading.

Why people actually do this

Protection.

Not just from scratches (though it helps).

From time.

Your paint doesn't fade as fast. Sun damage happens slower. Contaminants don't etch in as deep.

Five years from now, your car still looks newer than it should.

That's the whole point.

You're not coating your car to flex on Instagram (though it does look better). You're doing it because you plan to keep the car and you want it to age well.

Same reason you'd put a case on your phone or a screen protector on your laptop.

Investment in longevity.

A quick story about long-term thinking

I've got clients who've had me detail their cars monthly for 40+ months straight.

Not because they're obsessed.

Because they know consistent maintenance is what actually works.

The coating protects the paint. The monthly washes keep the coating clean and performing. The whole system works because they don't skip it.

Meanwhile I've seen people coat their cars, never maintain them, and then wonder why the coating "stopped working" after a year.

It didn't stop working.

You just didn't take care of it.

It's like buying a gym membership and never going. The membership isn't the problem.

Photos don't lie

I'm including photos of actual vehicles I've coated below.

You'll notice they're not all $100k supercars.

Most are daily drivers. Work trucks. Family SUVs.

The common thread? Owners who care about keeping their vehicle looking good for years.

That's the difference.

So who should actually get a coating?

Anyone keeping their car 3-5+ years who wants it protected.

Doesn't matter if it's a Tacoma or a Tesla.

If you're keeping it and you care about how it looks, coat it.

If you're not sure about the timeline, start with the 1-year. See how you like it. Upgrade later.

But if you know you're keeping it long-term? Go straight to the 3- or 5-year and lock in the protection now.

What happens next

Next week I'm walking through exactly how I apply a coating.

Step by step. Material by material.

So you can see what you're actually paying for when you book a coating.

Spoiler: it's way more work than most people think.

And if you're sitting there thinking "maybe I should just DIY this," you'll see exactly why most people try it once and then call me.

For now, if you want a quote, text me a picture of your car and how long you plan to keep it.

I'll tell you which coating (if any) makes sense for your situation.
